We are often asked the question "What is the difference between "residential" care and "nursing" care homes?"
Residential Care
In a Residential Care Home you will find care assistants who will meet the needs of the residents. It is not necessary to have qualified nurses within a residential setting.
If there is a need for a nurse to visit an individual resident, then a district nurse would be contacted to call into the Home and they would attend to whatever nursing need was required i.e. wound dressing or insulin injections etc.
Nursing Care
In a Nursing Home, care assistants are led and directed by qualified nurses.
Nurses will have a RGN qualification which is a Registered General Nurse or they may also have a RMN qualification which is a Registered Mental Nurse.

Testimonials
“Hillcrest Alnwick's carer's charming smiles and demeanour has shown warmth, kindness and loving care to my wife, which has helped me in many ways to come to terms with what to me, was the hardest decision of my life to place my wife in care.”
