Care Advice

The decision to place a family member or someone you love into care is one of the most difficult and emotive decisions a person can make. You can experience a whole range of feelings during this process and most people will have a real sense of loss. A huge part of feeling this way is that you may have a sense of being out of control, you are no longer the person who is there to make sure your loved one is well looked after, having someone to talk to, helping them to make decisions and enjoying their life.

At Executive Care Group, we understand that you may feel this way and we want to work with you so that you become a more integral part of our services. We value your input and in order to provide an excellent service; a service where not only your loved ones, but also you will feel important, valued and part of the development of the service we want to hear your views.

We want to hand some decision making back to you and by doing so we will have better outcomes for your loved one. This is an opportunity for families and the people who use our facilities to become more involved in how they are operated.

There are many ways we can do this from our perspective, but what do you think? What systems can we introduce that will increase your and your loved ones' involvement in how we operate and develop our services?

Some ideas that we already have and are being used in our services are:

 • Community meetings

•  Catering committees

•  Activities committees

•  Participation in recruitment and friends of our service meetings.

We also have care planning meetings where you help us to evaluate the care we are giving and help us to make sure it is what both you and your loved one wants and needs. However we think we can do more and we need your help to do this. What we strive for are services that not only provide excellent outcomes in respect of the care we deliver but services that are inclusive and involve the individuals who use them. A vital part of this is also to include the people who are important to them and in doing so we will ensure the service provides excellent outcomes.

Our aim

• To enable the individuals who live with us to engage in the local community and develop  friendships that will create natural support groups

• To enable the individuals who live with us to have the same opportunities and choice as everyone else wherever possible.

• To enable the individuals who live with us to maintain positive relationships with friends and families

• To create a culture where families feel the home their loved one lives in is an extension of their own home.

• To create a culture where everyone has a voice that will be heard.

• To create a culture that is inclusive.• To ensure all of the residents and families experience excellent outcomes that meet with their personal expectations.
